Thoughts on my content direction…
Please read, I promise it’s not as boring as it sounds 😂
Hello, lovely people.
I have just been messaging a friend who is going through a hard time and she talked about losing interest in certain things during that time and it honestly has set off a lightbulb for me (if you’re reading, thank you ❤️).
Life has been a struggle for awhile but things have changed in the past few months and gotten worse/sharpened in focus. It’s a season that won’t last forever but it’s also one that will, and already has, changed my life forever. At the same time, but obviously on a much less significant scale, I lost my original Instagram account. I have my new back up account back but the whole process of what’s going on in my family and losing my Instagram has made me reassess my whole online presence and content.
I’ve not questioned that I want to keep creating, because I very much do - probably even more so than ever, it’s an incredible outlet for me. But it’s made me question HOW I want to be here and on instagram. In this particular season, I want to make a change - this needs to be a happier, lighter place for me.
I want to write about things that I find interesting and that I’m passionate about. I want to write about royal news, royal history, royal fashion, royal charity work etc I have a long list of ideas and topics that I want to research and write about for you for in depth substacks and posts on Instagram. I have fun ideas for more “frivolous” fashion posts. But I’ve held nack on a lot of it because I thought people subscribed to this substack for very different reasons.
When it looked like I wouldn’t have any Instagram account, I posted here more and thought about how I could incorporate my instagram content here - more history, news with depth (not just snark) and it honestly got me really excited.
So that’s what I want to do going forward. I want to focus more on the things that excite me and interest me and less on things that just don’t anymore. I’ve resisted the change because I’m not naive, I know that a lot of people have subscribed for my Harry and Meghan snark/opinion posts. But it’s just not where my heart is anymore. I’m not saying that I won’t write about them ever again - because I probably will. But I just can’t work up the motivation to do it all the time. I will still be voicing my opinions here - it just won’t be at the same volume or constancy. And how do I know that this is the right choice? Because I’ve been trying to write about the Sussex’s trip to the UK for almost two weeks and the best I can come up with is “my god, Harry is an immature, stupid, vulgar, man child asshole”. 😂😂 When I really want to write about something, the words come easily (I’ve written these 500 words in less than half an hour, to prove my point). If you are more interested in that type of content then there are lots of really great creators that you can follow. It just won’t be me for awhile (I reserve the right to change my mind if they do something truly newsworthy but honestly they are just rinse and repeat these days).
My output will remain the same - actually it will probably increase. A weekly royal news substack, more lighter stuff on Fridays and longer, in depth posts for paid subscribers about newsworthy or interesting topics. It just won’t be quite the same tone or focus. It will run a lot more closely aligned with the vibe of my instagram (where I stopped posting about them a long time ago).
Thank you so much for all of your support - here and on instagram - over the past seven years. I’ve made real friends through this royal community and I hope to keep doing so. I hope that you will all stick with me going forward - I’ll still be me, my focus will just be a tiny bit different.
Also, I know we’re here for the royal content but we’re all also people. And I know that so many of us are having a hard time right now, for so many different reasons. That’s another reason I want to make a change - the internet (and the world) is so damned angry and combative now. I don’t want my corner of it to be like that. We all desperately need some light. If you are having a rough patch, please take care of yourselves.
Thanks for reading,
Jane.

I applaud you! It's never (EVER!!!) easy to take something that has been successful in the past and decide to shake it up. But, as you have come to realize, there is more to life than picking apart two extraordinarily annoying people who show no inclination to change course themselves. I really don't think the world at large NEEDS more analysis of Harry and Meghan - it's all out there for us to see and since it IS a matter of "rinse and repeat", it got old quite a while ago. I, for one, find delving into history on all matters royal far more interesting and I look forward to reading your future posts.
I LOVE your description of Harry! 🤣🤣 Do what makes you happy 😊 you are a breath of fresh air!
