Since her return to public duties, the Princess of Wales has very much been in an era of rewearing outfits from the past. I have thoughts on that and the conversation that has sprung up around it, but those are for another newsletter coming up next week. Personally, I love it - it’s fun to see outfits you loved again and I love seeing how Catherine restyles them. These clothes are beautiful pieces and definitely should be worn more than once - so good for her, I say! So for tonight’s “Friday Fun” newsletter (these really need a better name), I thought that I would choose the top ten outfits that I would love to see Kate wear again. I hope you enjoy!
#10 - Red Alexander McQueen Gown
In 2022, three stunning portraits (taken by photographer Paolo Reversi) were released for the then Duchess of Cambridge’s fortieth birthday. In one of those portraits she is wearing an absolutely gorgeous red dress by Alexander McQueen - bonus pocket points! We have seen Catherine wear this dress outside of the portrait so wouldn’t it be lovely to see her in it at an event?!
#9 - Floral Erdem Skirt Set
I know that this outfit isn't a huge favourite among a lot of fans but I love this floral Erdem two piece. Kate wore the outfit during her visit to Poland with William in 2017. After eight years collecting dust in the Kensington Palace wardrobe, I think it’s well past time that it had another outing!
#8 - Green Temperley London Evening Dress
The then Duchess of Cambridge wore this green lace Temperley London gown to the National Portrait Gallery gala in 2017. I love the lace and the dark green colour of the dress - she looked beautiful, don’t you think? I’m sure that Kate has a black tie event on her schedule that this would be perfect for.
#7 - Black Floral Alexander McQueen Gown
I feel like this black floral McQueen dress that Kate wore to the 2017 BAFTAs is so underrated! It felt like such a bold choice and so different to what she usually chooses to wear. I consider it to be one of my absolute favourite evening gowns that Kate has ever worn. Yes, I am prepared to die on this hill alone. 😂 I would love to see this one again - minus the not so great sleeves she added the second time she wore it.
See what I mean? 😬
#6 - Temperley London Green Lace Dress
I adore this very pretty dress that Kate wore during the 2016 tour to India and Bhutan. There are so many elements of it that I love - the colour, the delicate lace, the pleats/inserts at the bottom - it's all beautiful. This is one dress that I am actually very surprised that we never saw again!
#5 - Green Jenny Packham Gown
The only way that I can describe my initial reaction to this dress is - PRINCESS!! I mean, has our girl ever looked more princess-y? Kate wore the off the shoulder green Jenny Packham gown to an official dinner in Jamaica during the 2022 Caribbean tour. This one most definitely needs another outing - a State Banquet or the annual diplomatic reception maybe? Definitely something with a tiara!
#4 - Grey Erdem Coat
My love for Kate's 2016 Commonwealth Day Service outfit knows no bounds! The grey lace Erdem coat paired with her wide brimmed John Boyd hat was perfection. I’m sad that we’ve never gotten to see either piece again - separately or together.
#3 - Tartan Holland Cooper Coat
This one needs no explanation, right? This coat was such a WOW moment for me when Kate wore it a movie screening for NHS workers in Scotland in 2021. It’s still just as good four years later.
# 2 - Tweed Erdem Dress
In 2018, Kate had such a confident and happy vibe/glow about her. This outfit, that the then Duchess of Cambridge wore to a Victoria & Albert Museum event, was just one example of that. The grey tweed Erdem dress, along with the gorgeous maroon accessories, will forever be in my top five Kate looks.
#1 - Alexander McQueen Coronation Gown
And finally, the absolute number one outfit that I would love to see Kate wear again! She wore this beautiful white gown with silver embroidery to the Coronation in 2023. Due to her wearing her Royal Victorian Order robes for most of the event, we didn’t get a completely good look at the dress itself. Camilla & Sophie have both worn their coronation outfits again and I would love Kate to do the same so that we can see it properly. It also seems a shame for such a beautiful and historic gown to have only been worn once. It would look amazing at a state dinner or with a tiara!
A Few Honourable Mentions:
(aka I’m indecisive and couldn’t whittle down my list any more)
And one final one from REALLY out of left field…
Kate’s second McQueen gown from her wedding day would be the ultimate rewear. I’m sure it’s never going to happen but a girl can dream!
I would love to see Kate wear any of these beautiful pieces again - if we see any in the six months, I’m calling it - she reads here. 😂😂 Do you agree with any of my choices? Which outfits would you like to see Catherine wear again? Oh and I just had a thought - a list of the outfits we definitely don’t want to see again (all in good fun, nothing mean spirited!).
I hope that you enjoyed this trip down fashion memory lane. Have a wonderful weekend & I’ll see you back here Sunday with my thoughts on the week’s royal news.
Thanks for reading,
Jane.
Never too many times for me.....I love all of her outfits!
I think we were related in another life. I agree with 98% of your choices. Sometimes I think her most interesting and unique outfits rarely get a rewear. They deserve to come out of the dark!!
Thank you for taking us down memory lane.
